Websites

Turn more visitors into customers.

Give a visitor every reason to get in touch, then let what they submit write straight into the calendar or system your business already runs on.

What we build

A website does different work depending on who is looking at it and what they need. For someone who has heard your name, been referred, or found you in a search, it is where they decide what they think of your business. When someone is ready to act, it is the form and the calendar that turn that decision into a booked call. And for your own customers, it is a portal of their own, a place to check a status, upload something or see their account. Most businesses need more than one of these, working together as one site.

Everything comes down to two moments

A website cannot control who searches for you or whether a friend recommends you. What it can control is what they find when they get there, and that starts with the parts nobody pays attention to. A page that loads fast, is properly structured and carries the right metadata (the stuff that tells Google what your page is about) means nobody gives up before the page has appeared.

When someone is browsing a website, they really only ask themselves two questions, whether this business looks like it can be trusted, and whether there is an obvious next step to take. Trust and action are the two moments that decide whether a visitor becomes a customer.

Trust is earned by being specific about your business rather than generic about your industry. That means showing your own work and the people who do it in place of a stock photograph. Once someone is ready, action comes from cutting the steps between a decision and doing something about it. That means one form instead of several, or a calendar to book straight into rather than a promise that someone will call back.

One enquiry updates everything it touches

Someone finds you on a Tuesday evening, fills in the form and books a slot for Thursday. By the time you open up on Wednesday morning it is already in the calendar your team works from, the contact is already in your CRM, and nobody has had to go into the form's inbox to make either of those things true.

That is what connected means in an ordinary week. Which of your systems an enquiry lands in is something we settle with you before the site goes live, whether that is a booking calendar, a CRM or a spreadsheet, so what a visitor sends only ever gets entered once.

What happens when we build one

Our consultation with you at the start of the project gives us enough to write and design most of the site ourselves, and you watch it take shape while it can still change rather than seeing it for the first time when it is finished. The one part we cannot invent is the way you talk about your own work and who it is for, so we take that from whatever you have already written, and ask you directly where there is not enough to go on.

If you already have a site, it stays live and working exactly as it is while the new one is being built, so nothing about how a customer finds you or gets in touch changes until everything is ready to be transferred over.

What you hold

Your domain is registered in your name, the hosting your site runs on is an account of yours, and the DNS (the settings that tell the internet where to find you) is set up the same way. Those accounts are opened as yours at the beginning rather than moved across to you at the end, so there is never a point where something your site depends on sits somewhere you cannot reach.

You can change the words and the images yourself whenever the business moves on. What you can edit is deliberately kept to the content, so the page keeps the shape it was designed with however often you change what is on it.

Why none of it sits with us

Because we never held any of it, there is nothing for us to hand back if you ever decide to stop working with us. We take our own access away, and your site carries on exactly as it was, on the same domain, in the same place, with whoever you ask to look after it next.

What still needs watching

A care plan covers the parts of a live site nobody thinks about until they stop happening. The accounts stay in your name, so our part is keeping watch over them. A renewal never arrives without you hearing about it, the updates go on, the site stays backed up, and we see it when something goes down.

What your site connects to needs the same attention. A calendar, a CRM or a booking system runs on software that belongs to somebody else and changes on their schedule, so a login expires, an interface moves, or a plan changes underneath it, and none of it comes with a warning built in. The page still loads. The form still says thank you. Nothing looks any different, which is why we watch the parts that do not show.

Pricing

How does pricing work?

What a website costs comes down to how much of it has to be invented and how much it has to do. A design worked out from scratch for your business takes longer than one arranged from existing parts, and so does anything carrying real motion or 3D. Then there is how big the site is, what it has to connect to, and whether your customers need a login and dashboard or a portal of their own.

Some builds are a fixed price for a defined site. Some carry a care plan alongside them. And some are a larger shape again, a portal for your customers, or a site with a lot more to it. Once we have spoken to you properly and understood your needs, we are able to give you a quote. This is better for both parties because if we give you a quote up front, it's highly likely that it would change anyway after we learn more about what you're looking for.

Hosting, usage and your domain renewal are what the providers charge, we take nothing on top of them.

Questions

No. Selling online is a different craft, with its own stock and checkout systems to look after. What we build well is a site that turns a visitor into a conversation, whatever your business sells. If what you sell ends in a call, a quote or a booking rather than a payment taken on the page, that is exactly the kind of site we build.

No. If you already have a logo, colours or photography, the site is built around them. If you have very little, we work out how the site should look from whatever does exist, your current site, your social channels or anything you have in print, and we agree that with you before it is designed.
